New versions of PyNIO (1.4.1) and PyNGL (1.4.0) are now available.
The new release of PyNIO has several new features, a number of bug fixes, and some GRIB improvements. Some of the new features include:
- Support for files that have variables or single dimensions that are larger than 2**31
- Support for unsigned integer types and large 64-bit integers
- Limited support for reading HDF5 files
- A new "__formats__" attribute to indicate what features were built into PyNIO
The new release of PyNGL doesn't have many new features, but it has been majorly overhauled to compile against the recently overhauled version of NCL (version 6.0.0). Some new features include:
- New function "Ngl.gc_inout" that allows you to mask a data array based on a lat/lon polygon.
- New function "Ngl.dim_gbits" that extracts bits from byte, ubyte, short, ushort, and int types.
- New examples "hdf1.py", "tickmark2.py", and "shapefile3.py" (see attached images for a sample).
We have precompiled binaries for MacOS 10.5/10.6, and RedHat/Debian 32-bit and 64-bit systems for various combinations of Python 2.6.x, Python 2.7.1, NumPy 1.5.1 and 1.6.0.
