Finding area inside a contour

Hi all,

    Is there a function in PyNGL that will return the area between two
contours drawn on a map? Basically, I have a 2D field (0 to 1) on the
globe, and I want to calculate the surface area between the contours for
0.4 and 0.5 (say). Is there anything in PyNGL that will accomplish this?
