Using 8bit text in labels?

Hello:

I just started using pyNGL and I found it wonderful to use all the
power of NCAR Graphics from python.

My problem is that I need to be able to use 8bit text (Latin1 or
Unicode 8) in labels and titles but I have not found how to do it.

I will appreciate any help.
