Re: PyNIO on OSX 10.6

Hi Jim,

I do not have any experience with MacOS universal binaries, but from
the messages it looks like you are using a universal binary version of
Python and that by default it is trying to build PyNIO as a universal
binary. The messages about all the libraries (including libnio) not
being of the required architecture indicates that they were built for
a single architecture and may not be linking properly. I do not know
if it is possible to use a non-universal library with a universal
version of Python, but I do think that you will need to figure out a
way to ensure the libraries are compatible with the Python version.
Maybe someone who has experience with universal binaries can comment,
but Mary
suggests first trying to set the CFLAGS environment variable to
specify a single architecture like "-arch i386", or whatever it is
that your libraries were built with. If that doesn't work then you
might need to build your own Python first. Hope this helps.
