Hi Jim,

This functionality is currently not available in PyNGL/pyNIO. About the
best you could do at this point is take Dennis Shea's code he wrote
using
NCL (this in not an officially supported NCL function) and try
rewriting it
to interface to a Python SPHEREPACK binding.

We will put this on our list, but don't hold your breath.
