Support for NumPy

In preparation for our first (non-beta) release of PyNGL
and PyNio we have completed a major redesign of the web site.
The process of providing more complete and accurate documentation
entailed much code testing and has resulted in many bug fixes,
code improvements, and new examples. We have been on the verge of
announcing this release, but have lately considered the issue of
support for NumPy, the recently-released replacement for Numeric
and numarray. Passing arrays created with Numeric (and not NumPy)
to NumPy functions presents compatibility problems, so we will
need to support both NumPy and Numeric compatible versions of
our modules. We will certainly support a NumPy compatible
package in the future, but we would like to know how pressing
a need there is for this at this time?

Thanks,

The PyNGL/PyNio team
